Senior Neuropathologist – Division of Neuropathology and Neurochemistry of the Department of Neurology, Medical University of Vienna
After medical school Ellen specialized in Neurology in Barcelona, Spain and moved to Vienna, Austria, to complete her training in Neuropathology under the auspices of Herbert Budka (2001-2008).
In 2008 she returned to Barcelona, finished her PhD and took over the lead of the Brain Bank for neurodegenerative disorders of the Biobanc-Hospital Clinic-IDIBAPS (2009-2017). In 2017 she returned to Vienna, Division of Neuropathology and Neurochemistry of the Department of Neurology, Medical University of Vienna, where she works as a senior neuropathologist heading the neurodegeneration and prion disease area.
She has contributed to more than 250 scientific articles and has several organized network meetings and teaching activities. She closely interacts with the Austrian Family Support Group for Prion Diseases.
