Professora Adjunta – Laboratório de Termodinâmica de Proteínas e Estruturas Virais Gregorio Weber
Instituto de Bioquímica Médica Leopoldo de Meis, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro
Prof. Dr. Tuane CRG Vieira earned her undergraduate degree magna cum laude in Biological Sciences in 2004, followed by her master’s (2005) and doctoral (2009) degrees in Biological Chemistry at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
From 2014 to 2018, she served as an Assistant Professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio de Janeiro. Since 2018, she has been a faculty member at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry Leopoldo de Meis (UFRJ), where she actively mentors students at all academic levels and contributes to the Postgraduate Program in Biological Chemistry (CAPES 7).
Dr. Vieira directs a Biosafety Level 3 (NB3) laboratory dedicated to the diagnosis of prion diseases in Brazil. Her research lies at the interface of biochemistry and biophysics, focusing on the structural biology of proteins and glycobiology. She investigates the molecular basis of protein misfolding, with the aim of identifying therapeutic targets and developing diagnostic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.
